On moderation! [19 Oct 2010|04:48pm]

All new users are on moderation until further notice. Spammers, fuck off AND die in a fire. Real goths don't buy shit from Spirit anyway, dumbfucks. (And even if they did, they might think better of it after all the bullshit spam.)

Updated information for UtahGoth [10 Oct 2010|02:02pm]

After the comm got spammed* last week, I tried to contact Chesh, and my email bounced. Then I contacted LJ, and they tried to contact Chesh. Failing to do so, they decided to make me administrator.

I've cleaned up the subscription list to remove anyone whose account has been deleted. Otherwise, I am not changing anything except the "bio" to include these rules. If for any reason these rules don't work, we can change them.

Although the group doesn't get much use, I would like to at least see it used for its purpose: discussing and promoting the goth and related scenes in Utah and nearby.

Post ads for any events, shops, etc., no more than once per week.
Post ads which take place inside Utah or the immediate area (Boise, Denver, Grand Juction, Las Vegas, and Reno are all acceptable).
Post ads with a reasonable interest for members of goth, industrial, new wave, EBM, dark wave, deathrock, metal, etc.

Post ads for the same things more than once per week.
Post ads for anything that would require someone in Utah to fly to the event.
Post ads for anything that has no reasonable interest to members of these scenes.
Post anything graphic larger than 800px (the sum of the width and the height - in other words, something 400x400 is fine; something 450x350 is fine; something 450x400 is not fine).

If you want to let people in Utah know about an event which is outside of one or more of these strictures, and you feel VERY sure that people in Utah's goth+ scene need to know about it, feel free to make a short TEXT/HTML post about it and directing us to additional information. This would include local events which may be of interest to a small part of the scene (Utah Ballet's production of Peter and the Wolf, for example, or the Farmer's Market, either of which have a BROAD appeal that may include goths) or a certified goth even that is taking place far from Utah (Whitby or WGT).

* I realize that the posted doesn't feel that it was spam. *shrug*

Dracula's Ball, October 30th! Celldweller, Sepharim Shock, DJ's, Candy, + More! [03 Oct 2010|06:30pm]

The next Dracula's Ball event takes place on Saturday, October 30th and includes live performances by Seraphim Shock and Celldweller as well as three DJs spinning in three separate rooms. All ages are welcome. If you want to drink alcohol, you must be 21+ w/photo ID. Tickets are $16 and are on sale now at Ticketmaster (in person or online), IsoTank.com and Digital Ferret CDs. Our Halloween event has sold out for many years running.... As such, we recommend advance tickets in the strongest possible terms. Every year we turn away several hundred people who want to attend but did not purchase tickets.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Although this is our Halloween event, please note that it takes place on Saturday the 30th of October. Of course, a few hours after we open, midnight will roll around and we'll kick off the official start of Halloween!

Dracula's Ball takes place at Shampoo Nightclub in Philadelphia, on Willow Street between 7th and 8th Streets. The club has a large enclosed parking lot which is free, but it does fill up early during Ball events. Doors open at 9pm and the event ends at 2am. In addition to live bands, there are 3 DJs on 3 dancefloors, vendors, candy and door prizes. The official DB website can be found at: http://www.draculasball.com/

Convergence t-shirts and info for non-attendees [19 Jul 2010|10:17am]

Hi, Utah Goths!

We are less than one month from the big weekend, Convergence 16 in Park City, and we are so excited.

I know many of you will not make it to C16 as official attendees. While we would love to have you at the event, we know that it's hard to commit to the ticket price.

Please know that there are parts of C16 open to the public, and that no one will treat you poorly if you don't have a laminate. You just won't be allowed into the official events.

The vending room is open to the public, and we sincerely hope that you will come up to check out the awesome vendors we have this year.

Also, you are welcome to order t-shirts, even if you can't come to the event. T-shirts will be available for pickup at the vending room on both Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15th. You can also have the shirt shipped to you (S&H not included in price).

NOTE: NO SHIRTS WILL BE ON SALE AT C16. You must pre-order.

There are two shirt styles to choose from. Please read carefully, as the descriptions contain important sizing information.

Hanes Beefy-T
This is a basic crew-neck t-shirt with unisex sizing. Available sizes are S-3X. Many, many Convergences have used Beefy-Ts in the past, so dig your old shirts out, check your size, and order away!

American Apparel Deep V-neck
This shirt is very flattering (and super sexy) on ladies, but don’t be fooled by the American Apparel label – the deep v-neck may have unisex sizing, but it has a slightly slimmer cut than the Beefy-T. If you normally get a babydoll tee, consider ordering two sizes down. For a point of reference, Eilis (whom many of you know and who is a curvy girl) usually wears an 2X in the Bella brand babydoll (think C12, C13, and C14 shirts), but she wears a medium in the American Apparel deep v-neck.

How to order

Follow these steps:
-Go to this website: http://www.shirts101.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=GOS&Category_Code=MISC
- Select your shirt style, select your size, and add to the basket.
- When you have placed all of the shirts you want in the basket, click the "Checkout" button in the top right corner.
- You can either set up an account to save your information for future orders or place an order without an account.
- Follow through the checkout process and click “Continue” until an order number appears in the top left.
- You must use a Visa or Mastercard to pay for your shirts (your card will be charged by Designwear/Velocitee in Lincoln, Nebraska).
- For shipping, you can select either “Pick-Up at Event” (which is free) or “US Mail” (S&H added, and the shirt will be shipped directly to you).
- If you do not receive a confirmation email of your order, send an email to dan@shirts101.com to verify that the order was received.

All orders must be placed by 10:00 AM CDT on Monday, July 26th. No late orders will be accepted, and extra shirts will not be available at C16.

Assemblage 23 show Canceled. [11 May 2010|02:40pm]

It is with deep regret that I have to announce that tomorrow night's show in Salt Lake City is canceled. the area north of Denver and through Wyoming is to be hit with a huge snowstorm tonight and tomorrow and there is no way we can safely make it on time for the show.I believe Lexincrypt will still play and refunds will be issued for all pre orders. Sorry again. We are as disappointed as you are.

I have already started the refund process with 24tix.com so those of you who purchased tickets there will get a refund back on your card. Minus the service fees.

For those of you who purchased tickets from myself or City Dogs or Club Vegas I will be issuing refunds at Club Vegas.

There will be no cover Wednesday Lexincrypt will still be playing their set and we will have Guest DJ's spinning for you if you still want to come down and enjoy an evening with friends and good music please do so.

Doors are still at 8

Hope to see you there.

Two Days Until Faith and the Muse! [11 Apr 2010|02:52pm]

Only two days until the Faith and the Muse show! It's been ten years since they've played in Salt Lake (they had to skip us on their last two tours) but those who saw them at Convergence in 2007 have an inkling of what we are in for. But only an inkling -- they're bringing a 9-person live line-up, featuring taiko drums, a full string quartet, butoh/tribal fusion dancers, and elaborate costumes, in addition to their usual rock set up.

Here's the full-length video preview of the new album and the tour, to give you a taste:

And I just found this; it's another little promo video highlighting Serpentine, the bellydancing duo who'll be performing with them:

If you're not familiar with Faith and the Muse and are wondering what all the fuss is about, you can hear their music at http://www.myspace.com/faithandthemuse

Tickets are selling well, so this will definitely be the place to be this Tuesday if you're into gothic rock, dark punk, world music or belly dancing.

The best place to get advance tickets at this point is from Miah at City Dogs; he'll be at the corner of 300 S. and 200 E. tomorrow and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and has tickets fro $12 with no service charge.

You can also get tickets at any Graywhale for $12 plus a $2.50 service charge, or buy them online at 24tix for $12 plus a $3 service charge. They'll be $15 at the door.

The show's at Club Vegas (445 S. 400 W.) and doors are at 8 p.m. We'll start off with music by Chicago's DJ Scary Lady Sarah. Miah and Jesse will take the stage at about 9 p.m. for an acoustic Redemption set, and then Faith and the Muse will perform. The whole thing should be wrapped up by midnight so you can still get up for work the next day.

See you there!
